Rangmanch is not just another inter college street play competition, but an amalgamation of social views expressed in a never seen before avatar. It will be held under IMI’s Management and Cultural fest, Kritva’19 being organized from 1ST to 3RD Feb, 2019. In this event, each team is expected to prepare a play of maximum 15 minutes. The top two teams would be given prizes. The Theme for Kritva’19 is ‘An Escapade Through Time’

Participants are free to choose their own theme which should be clearly communicated through their act.

PRIZES worth Rs.50,000 to be won


  • A team could have a maximum of 20 members including instrument players (if any)
  • 15 minutes would be given to each team (including set up time) for the play
  • Play could be in English, Hindi or Bi-lingual
  • No music system would be allowed for any sort of music
  • Participants have to bring their own props
  • Scripts should be mailed on or before25th January by 12:00 noon to kritva@imi.edu
  • Scripts should be attached in the mail with the subject heading: Rangmanch__
  • The criteria taken into consideration for the final round will be theme, clarity of words, expression, timing and presentation
  • Use of vulgar language is strictly prohibited. Points will be deducted for the same
  • The decision of the judges will be final and binding under all circumstances.
  • Round 1: Script Screening
  • All the teams that register have to send a soft copy of their scripts. The scripts will be judged on the basis of the clarity of the theme. Shortlisted teams will be informed by 30th January.
  • Round 2: Finals
  • The shortlisted teams have to present their play before the jury and the audience. The best two teams will be given prizes.

Shilpi Marwaha: An actor, theatre artist, director, social activist and writer. She is the founder and creative head at Sukhmanch Theatre. Her major plays are Bertolt Brecht's Ramkali The Good Person of Szechwan, Dario Fo and Franca Rame's A Woman Alone, Mahesh Dattani's Final Solutions, 30 days in September & Tara, Girish Karnad's Rakt Kalyan and many more. She acted in films Raanjhanaa directed by Anand L Rai. & Bhoomiyude Avakashikal (The Inheritors of the Earth), directed by T. V. Chandran. She has acted in more than 40 major street plays based on social issues.

Tarun Kohli: He is a theatre artist, contemporary and Chhau dancer. He has been into theatre for last 5 years, been into dancing for last 2 years. He was associated with Khanabadosh Theatre group for almost 3 years and has also worked with Hansal Mehta who directed movies like City lights, Shahid, Aligarh. He has also shared screen with Raj Kumar Rao a known actor for movies like Kai Poche, City Lights, Shahid, Gangs of wasseypur etc.
